Nylon
Nylon is technically a polyamide (Polyamide 6.6, abbreviated as
PA66). While this nylon was originally developed for use in fibers
as a substitute for silk, today many different types of nylon exist.
Among them, nylon 66 is viewed as the best balanced plastic material
with the best balance of properties. In terms of impact strength,
it displays the greatest toughness of any plastic, and moreover,
it has superior friction and wear properties, heat resistance, chemical
resistance, lubrication properties, and colorability.
Starting with mechanical components such as lubricant-less gears
and bearings, nylon plays an active role in a variety of industries,
including the automotive sector where its superior resistance to
gasoline and oil enable its use in oil reservoir tanks and fasteners.
Among the various members of the nylon family (nylon 6, 66, 6.10,
12, 11, 12, etc.), Nylon 66 has the highest melting point and the
highest tensile strength, while it also possesses flexural strength
and its creep resistance is most superior.
Its major characteristics are its high toughness, wear resistance,
and chemical resistance, as well as its self fire extinguishing
nature, lubrication properties, and easy coloration.
Making use of these properties, Polyplastics Nylon 66 is used in
many part applications as a metal substitute, and another characteristic
is that the material is available in a wide variety of grades, including
glass fiber-reinforced and carbon fiber-reinforced grades.Available
